Making the most of the day

Well, sometimes it seems crazy to not sit still for more than a half an hour in one full day but on the other hand sometimes it is good to not stop.Stopping usually gets you thinking and that usually reminds me of things I need to take care of which is usually not fun to think about.

Interbike

Just got back from a long few days in Vegas. Interbike is a huge bike tradeshow in Sin City every year. It is always a rad time to go and hang out/see the newest products/see friends and just talk BMX. It is a lot of work and walking though. But this year was pretty eventful.

*I had an insane trip there (just ask for stories)
*I saw and hung out with an old friend which was rad
*I walked waaaay too much for my own good
*I finally won some fucking money in Vegas ($150 bucks in one hand)
*Got to go and shoot at TJ Lavin's yard finally.

All in all, good times were had. Now I have been home for hours and feel completely drained. I have no motivation to do anything, I am surprised I am writing this.

Oh, and the highlight of the weekend is definitely the fact that I got to meet and have a signed photo of Cru Jones himself from the famous 80's BMX movie "Rad". So fucking sweet.

Good Day

Got to get out and shoot down in Woodland Hills which is somewhere I havn't shot yet. Did a bike test and got a bonus photo with Miles that I was stoked on. Other than that just keeping busy with this Buyers Guide shit. Thats about the only thing on my mind right now, well that and Vegas in a few days. Should be a good time. The photo is from the other night on a late night mission to get some long exposure photos around LA.

Busy As Hell!

I have been super busy and consumed with a Buyers Guide in the newest issue of Plus! It involves a lot of phone calls/emails/caption writing/organizing and all that fun stuff. Other than that, just tryin to keep sane. I am getting a new vehicle soon, trying to figure out my new roomate situation or if its going to stay the same. Vegas next week then flying to Florida a few weeks after that. Random Jason Enns photo for visual stimulation.

Mag on the shelves

This is an old cell phone photo I found. Kinda cool walking into a store and seeing BMX Plus! on the shelf. Definitely never planned on having multiple covers of the magazine I grew up reading every word of. Life is crazy.

Busy working on the new buyers guide so things have been hectic!

Another Day, Another Dollar

Found out some good news today. That shit I mentioned about paying for something I shouldn't have had to is all cleared up so that is a huge weight off of my shoulders. Taking today off from Wolfpack. I needed a little break from my fixed gear. Found this pic of the Hoover Dam from a trip last year. Its pretty huge in person and impressive to say the least. They are actually building a new bridge near there that was gigantic and really high in the air. I'm not afraid of heights at all and I would never want to drive across that fucking thing.

LA and Cuse

Met up with bunch of guys today to ride LA. Had a pretty mellow session but it was fun for sure. Getting up early first thing tomorrow to drive down to Long Beach to surf for the first time ever. (which is funny seeing as how I have lived near the ocean for a year now) Should be pretty fun. Then after that going to session/shoot photos in LBC. Check back for the review of the day tomorrow night.

The picture you see caught my attention because it was the last night I ever spent living in Syracuse, NY and it could remain that way for a long time. Makes me think of home and all of the great times I have had growing up there. Hopefully I will be getting back East this December.

Shark Bite

The past couple of weeks have been a little stressful. A short list of shitty things include.

1. Multiple parking tickets
2. Running a red light ticket on my fixed gear bike
3. A trip to the hospital for crazy stomach pains
4. Being in debt $1300 for something that I shouldn't have had to pay for
5. Getting my window smashed out in Hollywood
6. Getting my CD player stolen in the process
7. Getting my glove box broken open in the process
8. Having to switch my car insurance/registration/bullshit to California
9. Having my car feel like its on its last leg
10.Needing to find a new living situation in the next month or so and maybe moving
11. Losing my wallet with my license and credit cards.
12. My computer (desktop) broke
13. Getting a 3 day eviction notice if my roomates don't get rid of their dog

and I will leave it at number 13 because obviously bad luck 13 works perfectly in this case.

Bad Idea

I was at the Long Beach Foundations BMX contest this weekend and Sean Logan decided to have someone smash fluorescent light bulbs against his back and chest. The first one against his back went OK, but when he took the next one across his chest with no sleeves he got a surprise. I guess this is where you reference the photos.

All City Team race

The Wolfpack All City Team race went down yesterday. It was a race from the east to the beach, more specifically from Silverlake pretty much to LAX airport. It was about a 17mile route.

About halfway through a bunch of people went through a big intersection when we shouldn't have and got two motorcycle cops chasing us. I tried to dip off to the right into a parking lot and there ended up being a strip of water right where I was turning. My front wheel washed out and I slammed pretty fucking hard, got road rash on my leg, elbow, shoulder and back..got a pretty good hipper and slid about ten feet on my back and went head first into a curb and hit the curb with my neck.

I found a video online of what my crash probably looked like. I would be the guy in the yellow jersey and thats about how my crash went but instead of a guardrail it was a curb that I hit and after I slammed on my right side I flipped to my back and stayed on my back.

After that I proceeded to get up in a daze and realize a cop was right there ready to give me a ticket for going through the light. I was the "example" of the day and even though I got wrecked right in front of the cop he still gave me a ticket. Needless to say it was a crazy race. I got back up brushed off, got my head clear for a second and finished the 8 or 9 miles solo in a headwind with a vague idea on where the finish was. I had to ask about 6 people for directions. I made it and proceeded to hear people that saw it talk about how crazy my crash was.

That wasn't the only crash. Multiple people were hit by cars, front and rear. Some guy ended up in the hospital with a broken collarbone and thats not including all of the individual crashes and ones involving only other bikers. Plus flat tires, bike problems and more.

I hate to admit that it was still fun after how gnarly it sounds but it definitely was one of the craziest things I have done. Now its off to another night of Wolfpack, sore as hell but gotta keep it up.
